    • THE BASICS

    1) Sewing a Pencil Case

    In this introduction to sewing they will learn:

  • the parts of a sewing machine
  • how to: change a needle and presser foot, thread the machine, use built in stitches to decorate fabric, sew straight and curved seams, insert a decorative zipper.

    • BUILDING ON THE BASICS

    (must know how to wind bobbin and thread the machine)

    2) Flannel Pillow Cover

    Learn machine piecing/quilting for this fun project. Insert an invisible zipper, clip the seams and the cover is complete.


    3) Chef Apron

    Techniques include: seam finishes; a facing; self fabric ties; hemming/topstitching by machine.


    4) Polar Fleece Hat and Mitts

    Fast and fun, your friends will be amazed you sewed them yourself!


    5) Boxer Shorts

    Learn how to: pin and cut a ready-made pattern, following the fabric grain; seam finishes; self casing; inserting elastic; machine hemming.
